January 2005

As I mentioned previously I’m having my first birthday party! It’s all very exciting. Well, actually it’s kind of more Miss Foxxxy Cleopatra’s birthday (my bizarre alter-ego). Let’s just say we’re sharing the event. I’m really nervous because the main reason that I’ve never organised a party is that I am petrified that nobody would come and I would be the laughing stock of the town. But then again, that was back in school days, and with a photo like this on the invitation (see below), hey, I’m already the laughing stock of Brighton..

Here’s to a good night! And let’s pray that people actually come…

(What do you think?)

2005 01 30 In the city

Last night I stared into the bottom of an empty glass, the slimy residue clinging to the bottom and smooth curves of the transparent emptiness. I watched the scattered bubbles crackle and pop, pondering on the life of the bubble and where it goes next, or if that it simply it for the bubble: it is no more. I wasn’t listening to what they said, the foreign conversations whirling around me, too far out of reach for me to grasp. Shortly after the exploration of my mundane thoughts I made an impromptu exit and walked the busy streets of this city, avoiding drunk out-of-towners and heading for the bright lights of the pavilion. I slowed my pace, looked up at the sky and thought about how the stars are invisible here. Just two weeks ago, the night before visiting Stonehenge, I stared up at the sky and watched it explode in slow motion into an array of sparkling mass. As if I were staring into precious crystal – mesmerised by the sheer abundance of stellar beauty that lay above me. In the city it’s impossible to appreciate the beauty of something that doesn’t exist…

2005 01 25 All moved in

And so it’s been more than a month since I’ve really had the opportunity to sit down at the computer… It’s snowing!
