Right now I wish I was back there in Jaén, atop of a moutain, still looking down at everything with pure fascination. One day we just drove for hours, curling around the mountain-top roads. I sat in the back, windows down, 37°C, scanning everything below us. The landscape changed from olive groves to desolate mountains, to lush greenery with reservoirs snaking through the valleys below. We stopped at a derelict hotel with a river beside it – I walked down the river, the current pushing me along. Sat on a rock and heard nothing but the rush of the river on either side of me, the noise of reality entirely blocked out.
When I got home on Monday afternoon I was welcomed by the stack of Gay Times magazines sent for me. Yippy. I had a good read on the train. There’s something very nice about reading a magazine that has four pages of your photos in it. Hurrah! I’m still waiting for a PDF that I can post here (and to my portfolio), but I will probably just take a quick snap of the magazine tomorrow so I can post it. This is an out-take from the shoot.. My mama has been visiting the last few days. We’ve been spoiling her with lots of delicious dinners and wine, yum yum. In between slobbing around with Mama I’ve been manically editing the final images for Gay Times. Apparently the layout is done and now I just have to wait for it to hit the shelves! Super excited. I left my camera at a party on Sunday by accident, got it back today and found some more behind the scenes photos:
So, yesterday I was shooting Johnny Hazzard in a gay sauna in Soho for Gay Times magazine. I was quite nervous, which I guess is part & parcel of any job (if I wasn’t nervous, I’d be worried!), but it all went so smoothly. A & I set off quite early and met the gang at the sauna to check out the rooms that were available. Lovely little place – Sweatbox – not as seedy as it sounds, some really beautiful locations to shoot in, too. It was one of the best shoots I’ve done – so nice to work with such a great, easy going team. Really great model (calm, down to earth, easy to talk to, damn good at posing!), really great make-up team (Bea Sweet, Georgia), and some lovely friends around to help assist. It’s ironic that lately I have been branching out into organising shoots with guys to build up my male portfolio, then this huge opportunity comes along to shoot with an international porn star for the UK’s biggest gay magazine. Score! Anyway, I can’t show anything from the shoot, other than these rather funny behind the scenes photos… A really, lovely, wonderful day.
